Safety Tips For Gardening

Many of our members are spending a lot of time getting their gardens summer-ready!

Check out these tips on how to STAY SAFE and STRONG while lifting bags of soil, pulling weeds, and more.StrongerLife workouts prepare our members for common tasks they face in real life!

Couple of key things to note when gardening this spring or summer:

  1. When moving heavy bags of mulch or soil, keep the bag close to your body when lifting. When lifting these bags from the ground, be sure to keep your arms straight, keep a flat back, and lift with your LEGS.

  2. When bending to pull tough weeds, center your body over the weed, keep your arms straight, and pull with your legs by trying to stand up.

  3. WORK SMARTER, NOT HARDER! Use small tools you can find at your local hardware store such as a handy Garden Knife.
