There’s LOTS you can do to minimize the effects of Heart Failure!
In a recent article outline the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Individuals with Heart Failure, researches laid out 9 Key Action Statements that are effective for folks with Heart Failure. Here’s the paper, but here’s the list of what you can do with the guidance of a Physical Therapist:
Increase your daily physical activity levels.
Manage the condition - daily weight checks, know signs & symptoms of an exacerbation, practice good nutrition, take your medications as prescribed,
Perform aerobic exercise 2-3x/week.
Perform high intensity interval training 2-3x/week.
Perform resistance training 3x/week.
Combine aerobic & resistance training exercises.
Perform Inspiratory Muscle Training 5-7x/week.
Combine Inspiratory Muscle Training with Aerobic exercise training.
Use neuromuscular electrical stimulation.
